Product Preparation
A synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminus (from 35aa-80aa) of human Selectin E protein. This sequence is identical in human, mouse,rat, canis and horse species.
Background
There are three subsets of selectins:P(platlet)-, E(endothelial)-, and L(leukocyte)- selectins (sels). Selectin E proteinis found in cytokine-stimulated endothelial cells and is thought to be responsible for the accumulation of blood leukocytes at sites of inflammation by mediating the adhesion of cells to the vascular lining. It exhibits structural features such as the presence of lectin- and EGF-like domains followed by short consensus repeat (SCR) domains that contain 6 conserved cysteine residues. These proteins are part of the selectin family of cell adhesion molecules. Adhesion molecules participate in the interaction between leukocytes and the endothelium and appear to be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
PURIFICATION
The Rabbit IgG is purified by Epitope Affinity Purification
SPECIFICITY
This antibody recognizes ~65 kDa of selectin Eprotein. It cross-reacts to human, mouse, rat and bovine. The other species are not tested.
FORMULATION
This affinity purified antibody is supplied in sterile Phosphate buffered saline (pH7.2) containing antibody stabilizer.
STORAGE
The antibodies are stable for 12 months from date of receipt when stored at –20oC. The antibodies can be stored at 2oC-8oC for one month without detectable loss of activity.Avoid repeated freezing-thawing cycles.
