Sox2,alsoknownasSRY(sexdeterminingregionY)-box2,isatranscriptionfactoressentialformaintainingself-renewalofundifferentiatedembryonicstem(ES)cells.ChromatinimmunoprecipitationexperimentshaveshownthatSox2andOct4bindtothousandsofgeneregulatorysites,highlightingtheimportanceofthesetranscriptionfactorsinearlyembryonicdevelopment.TheknockdownofSox2geneexpressionbysiRNAinhumanEScellsresultsinlossoftheundifferentiatedstemcellstate.Sox2isoneofthekeytranscriptionfactorsusedtoreprogrammouseandhumanfibroblaststoapluripotentstate.TheSox2Antibody(AffinityPurified)wasscreenedonhumanandmouseEScellsusingimmunocytochemistryandflowcytometryandselectedasthebestantibodyavailableforresearchersneedingtodemonstratepluripotency.
