Single-StrandBindingProtein(SSB)bindstosingle-strandedDNAwithhighaffinityandalsobindstoRNAanddouble-strandedDNAwithloweraffinity(1).Invivo,itstABIlizestransientlyformedssDNAandplaysanimportantroleinDNAreplication,recombinationandrepair(2).Invitro,SSBproteinshavebeenusedtodestabilizesecondarystructuresinDNAandtoincreasetheprocessivityofDNApolymerasesinseveralmolecularBIOLOGyapplications:SSBsimprovetheyieldandefficiencyofreversetranscriptionreactionsduringRT-PCRaswellasincreasetheyieldofPCRproducts(3-9).

ETSSB(ExtremeThermostableSSB)isasingle-strandedDNAbindingproteinisolatedfromahyperthermophilicmicroorganism,anditisaflagshipenhancerofthePrimerNavigatorproductseries.Itremainsfullyactiveafterincubationat95ºCfor60min.Duetotheextremethermostability,ETSSBcanbeusedinapplicationsthatrequireextremelyhightemperatureconditions,suchasnucleicacidamplificationandsequencing.
